J-Si Almost Killed His Son! [VIDEO]

All parents have stories about almost killing their kids...now J-Si has one to share.

I have heard it from most parents: “I thought I had killed my kid.” There’s Big Al’s famous story of the time he tried to jump over his son, and the crotch from his pants caught his head and slammed him down. Not good. My parents have a few stories involving me like swinging me around by my ankles, I was having a blast, and I ended up hitting my head on a pole. It’s bound to happen… right? No. I was determined to make sure I did not have such a moment with my kids. That streak has now ended. At least I made it to 2016… four solid years.

jsi-blog-pic-010616Cason, Chloe, and I were in the backyard. We have a lil swing set and the kids love it! Chloe still uses the toddler one and we keep it pretty chill, but Cason is now 4, so he thinks he is a grownup. He wants to ride the “big boy swing”, which is just a regular swing. He’s learning to kick his legs, and tuck, for optimal height and speed. However, sometimes he requires a lil help to get going, especially if I am giving Chloe a push on her toddler swing. So there we are, Cason asked me to give him a push, so I did. He is the more cautious one of my kids. So I never worry when he is doing this sort of potentially bone breaking activities that are normal for kids, because he always knows when to let go of the throttle. He started laughing super hard yelling, “higher papa!” I remember that feeling as a kid. You think you are about to touch the sky (when in all actuality you are only about 4-5 feet off the ground).

I tell him to hold on tight, and keep giving him some pushes. He is beyond excited. Loving every single moment. We have done this basically every day for the last few months. Then on the last push of the day, as he is moving away from me after a generous push, with the most joyous laughter, I watched my son launch off of the swing. Straight up in the air, did a flip, and landed on what appeared to be his knees and face, he didn’t even brace, arms were at his side, butt up in the air. He looked like a polar bear sliding down a snowy hill.

Chloe said “uh oh!” I stood there in silence. Kinsey stood there with wide eyes. Cason… he just laid there, silent. Everything was slow motion. In my head I was thinking… “Oh no! Please cry! Please move!” My body finally moved and I ran towards him, just as he started crying. Best sound ever. He pushed himself up, I asked if he was ok, and he nodded, but he had a mouth full of grass and dirt. I don’t know why, but it made me laugh, which made him cry laugh, as I held him. He started spitting all that out. I asked if he was awake the whole time, he said “yes”. So that’s good. I asked if he felt loopy or funny. He said “no”. That’s good. I asked what hurt, and he responded with “my feelings.” Awwww…

So there it is, I had my first “could have gone extremely wrong, but ended up ok, no thanks to me” moment with one of my kids.

Kellie's Sexy New Years Dance! [VIDEO]

Kellie Rasberry hosted a New Year’s Eve party this year and had so much fun that she couldn’t remember her sexy dance to thank a veteran for his service. Watch as the story unfolds below!

Kellie’s Blog: Cheers to 2016!

What happened to all those things I wanted to get done during my two weeks off? Oh yeah….I tried to pretend like I was a 20-something the entire time and my social life ended up kicking me in the face. So I’m starting off 2016 a little banged up and bloated, but hey! I had fun, didn’t I? I think….

kellie-blog-pic-010415Of course, I’m making a long list of New Year’s Resolutions. Why isn’t everybody? I hate it when people say they don’t “do” resolutions. Is that because by not doing them, they think they’re SO much better than the rest of us lemmings who keep setting ourselves up for failure year after year?? Oh yeah?? I’ll bet all those NON-resolutioners are the same ones who turn their radio dials over to NPR and set the volume on “mellow” right when they’re about to pull up to the valet, just so the valet will know he’s parking the car of a super smart person. Whatever! I’m going to set my resolutions, dang it. Setting them is half the fun! Seeing how long I go before giving up is the other half.

Now, there are some resolutions I can be very open about, like drinking more water…being in the outdoors with my daughter more often…cooking more meals at home…actually finishing the five or so books I’ve started…getting my closet organized…doing everything that Jenna does….

But there are some resolutions I have to keep very private out of the pure shame I would suffer from revealing I even have to make them in the first place. All I will admit to is this — some of these resolutions were made based upon my acting like a 20-something-year-old fool for the past two weeks. End of story.

So what did I manage to get done these two weeks off? I binge-watched all the episodes of “The Royals” on E! Oh, how I love that. I also caught up on season two of “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” on Bravo. Oh, how I love that, too. I also watched a “Fixer Upper” marathon and wondered, A) How have I gone my entire life without ever hearing the word “shiplap” before, and B) Will I ever find my Chip Gaines?? But who am I kidding…I’m no JoJo. I don’t even think I can set a resolution for that.

Kidd's Famous Brown Bag Turkey Recipe

Every Thanksgiving, Kidd would tell us about his Famous Brown Bag Turkey recipe. So once again, here it is.  And hopefully Kidd will be watching over you to prevent any fires.  Just kidding, Kidd!  :)

Prep time= 30 mins | Total time= 4 hrs 30 min | Servings: 6-8

Ingredients

• 1 (18 -20 lb) whole turkey
• 2 stalks celery (roughly chopped)
• 1 carrots (roughly chopped)
• 1 onions (cut into quarters)
• 3 -4 crushed garlic cloves
• Olive oil

Directions

1. Take everything out of the turkey. There will be a giblet bag and some other stuff.

2. Next add vegetables to the inside of the turkey. You don’t even have to peel anything. This is easy because the veggies are just for flavor — you are going to throw them away later.

3. Take the onion and cut it into quarters.

4. Chop a nice long carrot.

5. Do the same with a couple stalks of celery.

6. Add several cloves of garlic that you mash between a broad kitchen knife and the kitchen counter.

7. Throw it all inside the turkey.

8. Then rub the turkey all over with olive oil — not butter because butter usually has salt in it and salt is the enemy of a moist turkey. Make sure the whole bird is covered in olive oil.

9. Put the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it with a large brown paper bag.

10. Staple shut. If you have a huge turkey use two paper bags at each end. It wont stick to the bird because of the olive oil.

11. Sprinkle the bag all over with water.

12. Place into pre-heated 375 F oven. ON THE MIDDLE RACK.

13. The bag wont burn because paper burns at 451 and we’re at 375 degrees.

14. The advantage of the brown paper bag over the Reynolds cooking bag is that the paper breathes so the turkey ROASTS. In the Reynolds bag the turkey STEAMS, giving it a different taste.

15. Roast for 13-15 minutes per pound.

16. When you think it’s ready, shove a meat thermometer through the bag and into the turkey and give it a minute to register. Make sure it doesn’t touch the bone.

17. The thermometer should register between 163-170 degrees.

18. Remove from oven, cut away the bag and remove the basting pan.

19. Do not throw out the drippings!

20. To make the gravy, strain the pan juices into a really big pot. Any juices that accumulate on the turkey platter get poured into the pot.

21. Add six oz. of boiling chicken broth and 1/8 cup of cornstarch to the gravy to thicken it up. Cook on low heat and stir and cook and stir.

22. If it seems it isn’t going to be thick enough, add a little more cornstarch.

23. That’s it! Happy Thanksgiving
